چکیده

The proposal of adaptation in individual ryanodine receptor (RyR)/Ca 2 1 release channels (Györke and Fill, 1993) has been an exciting concept that has stimulated widespread consideration of the properties and mechanisms involved in the activation and termination of Ca 2 1 release in muscle and other cells. Here, we consider what adaptation of individual RyRs is defined to mean and examine the evidence for its existence in the light of the recent reappraisal of the stimulus used in the original experiments. We further discuss the findings of other single-channel studies, as well as in vivo studies on Ca 2 1 release designed to test a possible role of adaptation, and conclude that there are inconsistencies in the adaptation model of RyR regulation. In an attempt to resolve the issue, and to obtain insights into the fascinating dynamic responses of a RyR to large, transient Ca 2 1 stimuli, which may be fundamental for RyR function in vivo, we present an alternative model to explain the data of Györke and colleagues.

Ryanodine Receptor Adaptation

signal activates specialized Ca 2 1 release channels, the ryanodine receptors (RyRs), in the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR). This process is called Ca 2 1 -induced Ca 2 1 release (CICR). Intuitively, the CICR process should be self-regenerating because the Ca 2 1 released from the SR should feedback and activate further SR Ca 2 1 release. However, the CICR process is precisely controlled in the he...

Investigating the Rate of Adaptation between the Courses of Radiation Technology and Job Requirements from the Perspective of Graduates

Introduction: the experts of radiology play a crucial role in the treatment programs of the patients in hospitals. Therefore, in order to recognize the needs, the experts’ opinion should be obtained about whether the educational program meets the job requirements or not. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the rate of adaptation between the courses of radiation technology and job...

The neuroprotective mechanism of cinnamaldehyde against amyloid-β in neuronal SHSY5Y cell line: The role of N-methyl-D-aspartate, ryanodine, and adenosine receptors and glycogen synthase kinase-3β

Objective: Cinnamaldehyde may be responsible for some health benefits of cinnamon such as its neuroprotective effects. We aimed to investigate the cinnamaldehyde neuroprotective effects against amyloid beta (Aβ) in neuronal SHSY5Y cells and evaluate the contribution of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA), ryanodine, and adenosine receptors and glycogen ...

Amelioration of Pentylenetetrazole-Induced Seizures by Modulators of Sigma, N-Methyl-D-Aspartate, and Ryanodine Receptors in Mice

Background: Sigma receptors, N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) antagonist, and modulators of intracellular calcium may be useful for seizure control. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the antiepileptic effects of opipramol, a sigma receptor agonist, against pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-induced seizures in mice and assess ketamine and caffeine interaction with the antiepileptic effects of opipramol.Methods:...
